the howling winds blow in the dead of night
As the lights flicker giving us a fright
The booms so loud you want to run and hide
Children snuggle close in fear
And ask momma when will it end
Rain pouring down
Hitting the window like bricks
While the clashing of the thunderstorms continue
Then silence fills the home as the power gets knocked out
You can suddenly hear how wicked and loud it all really is in the listening ear
The sound of the thunder sounding so near
You reach for a candle and lanterns and your weather radio
Hoping your generator will kick in
It’s darker black than any other night
As the deep black of the clouds moves in over head
Severe thunderstorms the weather said
As you fear the dark again
